Lecture: Sojourner Truth A Legendary Champion of Humanity and Women’s Rights, Justice, and Equity Through the Ages 

​

Synopsis: A historical overview in power-point of the life of Sojourner Truth from childhood to death. Looks at her relationships with slave masters and Quakers, her walk to freedom, court battles won, cults, two husbands, five children, being an itinerate minister, her work with Antislavery Leaders, Suffragette Reformers, and the Freedmen on behalf of humanity and becoming an author in her own right. Also, meeting with Presidents’ Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant, and being a three-time home owner. (60+ minutes with Q&A following)

Lecture: Sojourner and Social Movements of Her Time

​

Synopsis: Sojourner addresses various social issues and movements regarding equality, race, suffragism, equity, industry, economy, education, and other issues arising between Caucasian and African American women during the nineteenth century. There is much dialogue and various quotes read concerning her work with attainment of Rights for African American women as we see her evolve as a radical social reformer and itinerate preacher in her own right. (60 minutes with Q&A following)

Lecture: “And Truth Shall Be My Abiding Name” 

​

Synopsis: Looks at slavery’s evolution in New Amsterdam, the Netherlands unto New York and the numbers of slave brought there per the Mid-Atlantic Slave Trade. Further, from her childhood as Isabella and walking to freedom, reading delves into the life of Sojourner Truth…her work with the Women’s Suffrage Movement, the Colored Freedmen’s Bureau, the Temperance Movement, winning three court cases, meeting two presidents, becoming an itinerate preacher, fighting against prejudice and imprisonment and so forth. (60 minutes with Q&A following)

Reader's Theatre: Readings From The Words Of Truth 

​

Synopsis: Women’s Rights. Women’s Dress, Slavery, Family, Suffragism, Temperance, Prejudice, and more. Donna will use her voice of Ms. Truth which she has used during past re-enactments when speaking her words. (60 minutes with Q&A following)

Poem: Telling The Story Of Isabella (young Sojourner) Sold On The Auction Block   

​

Synopsis: Donna tells the story which she authored as Isabella hears and sees situations that developed when she was nine years old and being sold on the auction block with a flock of sheep. (60 minutes)
